Voting Yes On #2 Protects Life – Protects the Commonwealth

When the United States Supreme Court overturned Roe vs Wade, the state of Kentucky was able to put into effect pre-approved laws banning abortion. Laws approved through the normal process of law.

However, these laws were quickly put on hold by ONE Judge who manipulated Kentucky law, specifically the Kentucky Constitution, in the very same way that the Dobbs case had done, reading into the Kentucky Constitution in the exact manner that the SCOTUS had just deemed was incorrect. Thereby blocking the Humanity in Healthcare Act of 2022 and the ‘Heartbeat Law’ of 2019 and allowing abortions in Kentucky to continue to be performed, despite the overturn of Roe and Dobbs. One single man, nullifying the Human Life Protection Act, which passed in 2019 in a bipartisan vote by the Kentucky State Legislature. Such individual actions undermine the three branches of government our Commonwealth was founded upon.

To prevent this, Amendment #2 adds one sentence to the Kentucky Constitution:

“To protect human life, nothing in this Constitution shall be construed to secure or protect a right to abortion or require the funding of abortion.”

Simple and straight forward. No smoke. No mirrors.

That is why we are asking all Kentuckians to vote YES to Amendment #2 on November 8th.
