The Real Presence of the Unborn

The denial of the existence of the unborn and the denial and existence of the Lord.

The prophet Jeremiah stated, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I dedicated you, a prophet to the nations I appointed you. (1:5)”. And Paul reminds the Galatians, “…Christ lives in me; insofar as I now live in the flesh…”(2:22). So before our existence was Christ, during our existence Christ resides within us, and after our time on earth we have the opportunity to reside in HIM. And Our Lord offers us the same words of Life that HE had for his followers 2,000 years ago, “Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in the one he sent.” ( John 6:29) Here he sends us the unborn in the wombs of women but we reject their existence. Aborting them from our lives. And as if that were not enough then we turn and do the same to Christ in His Eucharist despite His words in the sixth Chapter of St. John where Christ states, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.” (51) In both instances we reject the Child – the human child and the Christ Child found in the Eucharist for lack of Trust. We simply fail to take Jesus, our Lord and Savior, at His word.

Throughout the course of human history there has existed a denial of a Creator, specifically the God of Jewish and Catholic Tradition. Satan, always making the most out of the worldly tools at his disposal, has unleashed, in recent decades, a barrage of spiritual volleys tempting civilization to categorize who is human and who is not. During the decades of slavery in the U.S., the anti-abolitionists comforted themselves with the idea that black people were not human. Jumping aboard that band wagon Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party carried that same belief but not only about black people they used that idea as their justification for the Holocaust of millions of Jewish people. Now the “enlightened” among us, use the same emotional argument and say the child in the womb is not human. Twisting “science” and mixing half truths with emotion, they have cunningly convinced many in society of this lie. Many of these enlightened, who were educated in Catholic institutions ironically, go a step further and state that the only way one can lift up our civilization is with the elimination of that great burden, our future progeny, the unborn.

Ignoring common sense as too unscientific, societies through out the first world, have forsaken the self-evident natural laws governing mankind for the idol of self-indulgence. Deluded by a chicken-little mentality, they live in a constant self-created fear of global starvation and overpopulation.  Ignoring their own great wealth and worldly possessions, they lay blame on the unborn the very problems they create, some of which exist only in their own minds.  Has there ever been a generation in the course of human history that has had such an opulent existence, yet continues to live in fear?

Forgetting that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself, they reduce the pricelessness of human existence, into a butcher shop of horrors, where they justify their rationale for selling infant body parts, create an avenue that further increases human trafficking, and they reduce the well-esteemed and highly regarded position of motherhood to that of human cattle.

Putting aside the scientific breakthrough images that show life’s very separate and unique beginnings and shielding themselves from the images of actual abortions, they incessantly recite and devoutly cling to the made-up ideas that the child in the womb is just another organ. Placing themselves in a temporary state of amnesia, they forget the fact that a kidney or liver has never grown up to be president.  And by this purposeful CHOICE they fail to understand their own humanity, and therefore how can they possibly see the humanity found in the unborn child?

Is it really so ironic that Catholics now find themselves at a crossroad where a Catholic U.S. President is so anti-life to the Child in the womb, yet demands he receive the Christ Child in the Eucharist?! Too many within the faith have failed to realize how these two Children are intertwined.

When dealt with the parallels of the Unborn and the Eucharist, you may say to yourself, “This saying is hard; who can accept it?” (John 6:60) and you can then hear our Lord’s response as he says, “Since Jesus knew that his disciples were murmuring about this, he said to them, “Does this shock you?” (John 6:61) He may follow that with another question, ” What if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?” ( John 6:62)

Because of this, there often seems to our limited minds that there are no words, no languages, no logical reasons that can sway those hearts and minds to the self-evident Truth, of our Lord’s existence. Let us prayerfully and continually place our trust in the fact that,

“His thoughts or not my thoughts, nor are His ways my ways,

as high as the heavens are above the earth,

so high are His ways above my ways

and His thoughts above my thoughts.”

The real choices are, do we Trust our Lord when we are provided another Life within us, whether a child in the womb, or Christ in the Eucharist? Or do we follow in the footsteps of other believers when pushed to the edges of our faith and decide instead ,”As a result of this, many [of] his disciples returned to their former way of life and no longer accompanied him. (John 6:66)
